National office supply chain The Office Depot has cut ties with the Office Depot Foundation, which served as the company’s primary charitable giving vehicle for more than two decades. However, the foundation will not close up shop, but will instead continue on under a new name—the Listen Learn Care Foundation. According to Foundation President Mary Wong, the Listen Learn Care Foundation will continue with the mission and activities that have been the foundation’s hallmark for years, including:

  • The National Backpack Program, which began in 2001 and has donated more than 4 million backpacks and sackpacks to deserving children since that time.
  • The Difference Maker! Movement, which seeks to bolster the capabilities of nonprofit organizations by providing the expertise, resources and collaboration they need to increase their capacity while becoming more efficient and effective, among other things.
  • The Difference Makers Leadership Forum, formerly known as Weekend in Boca, which brings together nonprofit executives, board members and volunteers each year to gain a deeper understanding of the roles they play as leaders within their organizations and the ways in which they can work together effectively.
